Bank of China Hosted “Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference” in Macau

2016-07-08

The “Cross-Border E-commerce Conference”, co-organized by DSE, IPIM, TEDMEV and BOC had a grand opening in Macau on July 8th. Over 200 representatives from more than 100 local enterprises and 10 cross-border e-commerce platforms from mainland China attended the conference to seek business opportunities onsite.

This conference in Macau is a key composition of BOC’s cross-border internet finance blueprint. With the booming development of internet finance in the mainland, the conference, with the theme of “An Perspective on Cross-Border E-Commerce Industry, the Opportunities and Challenges for Macau”, aimed to help superior suppliers in local and Portuguese –speaking countries to make a connection with Chinese mainland e-commerce platforms, as well as to build up a cross-border business communication channel.

At the conference, e-commerce platforms from mainland China, such as Yihaodian, Vipshop, Kaola, GTD, etc., introduced themselves, discussed with local enterprises one on one and visited the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Food Product Exhibition Centre”. Through those various ways, the platforms and local companies made a thorough communication on cross-border e-commerce cooperation models and intended to work together to bring reasonably priced quality products from Portuguese-speaking countries into the mainland. As the most internationalized and diversified bank in China, Bank of China actively coordinates with the government of Macau SAR and takes advantage of the globalized service network, abundant client resource and various finance products to facilitate the development of Macau’s cross-border e-commerce industry and to create a long-term cooperation mechanism between local SEMs and mainland e-commerce platforms. During this conference, 10 e-commerce platforms talked with more than 200 local companies onsite and over 60 companies have reached preliminary cooperative intentions.

The internet finance solution for cross-border e-commerce provides an efficient, reliable matching platform for companies in China and overseas. It bases on BOC’s abundant client resource inside and outside of the mainland and the precise understanding of local policies. This solution involves a set of comprehensive services for platforms, customs, logistics, overseas suppliers and domestic consumers. BOC has successfully held several cross-border e-commerce events before, such as “China-UK SME Business Match-Making” co-organized with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in September of 2015, “China-New Zealand Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference” in November 2015, and “China-UK Cross-Border E-Commerce White Paper Conference” co-organized with UKTI in London in March this year

In the future, BOC will continually take advantage of its expertise in global services to expand cross-border e-commerce business in Malaysia, Italy and the other countries and areas, provide convenient and comprehensive finance solutions, and import various high quality products from abroad.
