Australian Banking Association Banking Code of Practice

As the members of the Australian Banking Association, Bank of China Limited, Sydney Branch and Bank of China (Australia) Limited (hereinafter referred to as ‘we’) are committed to comply with the Banking Code of Practice (BCOP) since 1 July 2019, with the latest updated version dated 28 February 2025.
The BCOP is a code that sets out the standards of practice and service in the Australian banking industry for individual and small business customers, and their individual guarantors.
We have made a commitment under the BCOP to our customers to ethical behaviour, to fair and responsible lending practices and to the protection of their privacy.
You can obtain a free copy of the BCOP from:
a) our website here (see attachment 1); or
b) any of our retail branches in Australia; or
c) us by mail upon your request by telephoning us on 1800 095 566 (if calling within Australia) or +61 3 9670 6200 (if calling from overseas).
The 2025 version of the BCOP commenced on 28 February 2025 and replaces the 2021 version of the BCOP (see attachment 2). The 2021 BCOP will continue to apply to certain agreements with customers/guarantors entered into before 28 February 2025 under the transitional provisions.
