Position Title: Corporate Banker

Position Available: 2

Location: Toronto & Markham

Effective Date:  February, 2017

Position Summary:

The Corporate Banker works as a member of the Corporate Banking Team with an emphasis on syndication or bilateral loans for large local customers in diversified industries except oil & gas and mining. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new long-term business relationships within the local market and building and maintaining existing business relationships with our corporate clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with large Canadian customers in diversified industries especially manufacturing, power, infrastructure and other diversified business, except oil & gas and mining. 
  • Lead, organize and underwrite syndication deals
  • Negotiate terms and conditions and prepare credit applications for new loan facilities for Corporate Banking clients
  • Independently review, assess and scrutinize Financial and Borrower information to develop a strong rationale in the adjudication and /or onward recommendation of credit proposals.
  • Provide input to maintain up-to-date file on client , including conducting annual reviews
  • Identify  opportunities for business expansion and product enhancements of existing client business based on client feedback and competitive market analysis
  • Support preparation and execution of account-related social events and marketing campaigns , including deliver presentations  to mid-level clients, as needed
  • Closely engage into the product development process in collaboration with other team members and cross functional teams
  • Assist the Department  Head in achieving department performance targets and propose and/or implement innovative ideas to enhance business results
  • Coach, supervise and motivate team members and other staff members from relevant branches in relation to corporate banking business
  • Communicate the strategy, plans and ideas to the departmental staff and promote awareness and ensure adherence to all policies & procedures

Job Specification:

  • At least 8-12 years of relevant experience in the major banking sector with 10 years or above syndicate credit experiencing in the field of syndication
  • Minimum 5 years of past experience in managing a team
  • Past experience of managing a single loan project worth minimum CAD$100 million is a must
  • Sound understanding of all corporate products  is a must
  • Past experience and knowledge of  arranging a syndicated loan as a lead bank is an asset
  • Relevant post-secondary education with Diploma/Degree in Business Administration, Accounting ,Finance or Economics;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and work accurately within deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to work accurately, under high pressure within fixed and short timeframes
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and applications, including MS Office Suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Problem Solving attitude and client driven
  • Result and quality oriented
  • Adaptability and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment
