Letter of Credit or Standby Letter of Credit Verification Service

Service Description

Beneficiaries holding a Letter of Guarantee or Standby Letter of Credit (hereinafter referred to as "LG/SBLC") issued by Bank of China Colombo Branch (the “Bank") may require the Bank to verify the LG/SBLC (the “Verification Request”). The Verification Request shall be addressed to the Bank via SWIFT or in person.

Application Methods

(1) SWIFT Verification Request

The Beneficiary may send a Verification Request via a SWIFT authenticated message through its account holding bank to the Bank for verification. SWIFT Code for the Bank is as below: Bank of China Colombo Branch: BKCHLKLXXXX.

The message must include key elements of the LG/SBLC for authenticity verification, including but not limited to the business reference number, issuing institution, amount, number of pages etc.

Note: Providing sufficient information is essential for an accurate verification result.

(2) In-Person Verification Request

The Beneficiary may authorize a representative to submit a Verification Request in person at the Bank's office. The authorized representative must present the original LG/SBLC, a valid identification document and the authorization provided by the Beneficiary to his representative.

Notification of Verification Results

1. For SWIFT Verification Requests: the Bank will respond to the inquiry via a SWIFT authenticated message within five (5) business days.

2. For In-Person Verification Requests: The verification result will be provided in a written letter signed by an authorized signatory of the Bank. The Letter will be delivered to the beneficiary either in person at the Bank’s office or via courier service as agreed between our Bank and the Beneficiary.

Please note that the Bank will not notify verification results through other means, such as personal email, unsigned letters, or oral communication.
