Verification Service for Letters of Guarantee and Standby Letters of Credit

Service Description

Our bank offers verification services for beneficiaries in possession of a Letter of Guarantee or a Standby Letter of Credit (hereinafter referred to as "Letter of Guarantee/Standby LC") issued by our bank or a branch of the Bank of China. The verification process ensures the authenticity of the document in accordance with our established procedures.

Application Process

1.SWIFT Verification Request:

  • The beneficiary must submit a verification request via an authenticated SWIFT message through their company's account-holding bank.
  • The request should be directed to our bank using the SWIFT code BKCHMUMUXXX and must include relevant details for verification, such as:
    • Document reference number
    • Issuing institution
    • Amount
    • Number of pages
    • Voucher number (if applicable)
  • Providing comprehensive information facilitates an accurate and timely verification process.

2.In-Person Verification at the Bank Counter:

  • The beneficiary may appoint an authorised representative to submit a verification request in person at our bank’s counter.
  • The representative must present the original Letter of Guarantee/Standby LC, along with:
    • A valid identity document
    • A company authorisation letter confirming their authority to act on behalf of the beneficiary

3.Special Circumstances:

  • In exceptional cases, the beneficiary may send an email inquiry to mlqszhgsjrb@bank-of-china.com.
  • Our bank will assess whether the request can be processed and provide guidance on the specific verification procedures.

Notification of Verification Results

1.Response to SWIFT Verification Requests:

  • For inquiries submitted via authenticated SWIFT messages through the beneficiary's account bank, our bank will respond within five (5) working days using a secured SWIFT message.

2.Response to Counter Submissions:

  • For verification requests submitted in person at our bank counter, the verification result will be provided in the form of an official response letter signed by an authorised signatory.
  • The response letter will be delivered to the beneficiary’s authorised representative at the counter or dispatched via registered/express mail.

3.Important Notes:

  • Our bank does not send verification letters without the signature of an authorised signatory via employees’ personal email accounts.
  • Our bank does not confirm the authenticity of Letters of Guarantee/Standby LCs through verbal communication.
