Security Notice
(Effective from October 18 2021)
Dear customers:
Bank of China (New Zealand) Limited and Bank of China Limited, Auckland Branch (hereinafter referred to as BOCNZ) are committed to providing you with high-quality and secure online banking services. In order to enhance your financial security and your online transactions and activities, please pay attention to the following instructions when using our internet banking:
1. Login to BOCNZ Website
1.1 Please ensure you use the official BOCNZ website address: https://www.bankofchina.com/nz/en/.
1.2 You will see the welcome message you have reserved after logging in our Internet banking.
1.3 Please be aware of fake websites. If you have any doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us through our hotline 0800 695 566 (Within New Zealand) or 0064 9980 9000 (From Overseas).
2. Protect Your ID and Password
2.1 BOCNZ will never request you to disclose your security information, such as your ID and password by email, letter, telephone, or SMS. Never disclose your password to anyone else, including bank staff and police. If you have any questions, please contact us immediately by calling our hotline.
2.2 Please avoid using alpha-numeric character combinations that can be easily found out, such as your birthday, telephone number, or vehicle plate number. We suggest you using the alpha-numeric character combinations with capital or small letters, which are difficult to be deciphered.
2.3 Please avoid using the same password for login to other internet services (e.g. internet access or email login).
2.4 Please change your Internet banking login password regularly.
2.5 Please do not keep a written record of your username and password. Do not give your username and password to anyone else nor accept suggestions for your username/password combination from anyone else.
2.6 Please do not disclose your personal information, including your ID number, passport information, accounts number and other security information, to any suspicious or unverified person/website.
2.7 Please safeguard your E-Token and contact us immediately if it is lost.
3. Security Alert for Internet Banking
3.1 Please do not access internet banking by using shared computers like those in internet cafés or public libraries, as these computers could be installed with malicious monitoring programs to capture your username and password.
3.2 When you login to internet banking, please carefully examine the previous login time on the welcome page and make sure that it is consistent with your recollection of your last login time. This will help to spot any unusual or suspicious transactions and to avoid fraud by malicious email or website.
3.3 Every time you complete online transactions, please ensure you click on Exit button on the top right-hand corner of the screen and then close the browser.
3.4 If you need to leave your computer for any reason, please log-out of internet banking by clicking Exit button on the top right-hand corner of the screen.
3.5 We suggest you setting a password for your computer to secure the information in it.
4. Safeguard Your Own Computer
4.1 Please install firewall software to safeguard your own computer from unauthorised access. This is especially important if your computer is connected to the Internet through wide band or a DSL modem.
4.2 Please install and regularly update firewall and anti-virus software to protect your own computer from virus intrusion.
4.3 Every time you complete transactions, we suggest you deleting the cache and history records in your browser to ensure your security information will not kept in the computer.
4.4 Please do not view any unidentified email and do not login to internet banking system through linkage from email.
5. Other Comments
BOCNZ will review this Security Notice from time to time and will make any necessary updates when needed. We recommend you read this Notice to enhance the awareness that relates to internet banking security.
