Service Overview
Bank of China (New Zealand) Limited (hereinafter referred to as “BOCNZ” or “the Bank”) offers individual customers New Zealand Dollar (NZD) savings accounts and term deposit accounts. We also provide multi-currency foreign currency deposit accounts, including demand and term deposit services in USD, CNY, AUD, and HKD.
Your deposits are protected under the New Zealand Government’s Deposit Compensation Scheme (DCS). For more information, please refer to the [Depositor Compensation Scheme] section on our website.
Personal Account Opening Information
As a bank registered in New Zealand, BOCNZ is required to verify customer identity in accordance with regulatory requirements. To open a personal account with us, you will need to provide valid identification and supporting documentation.
Please prepare the following documents for your first account opening visit:
1.Valid Identification Document
- A valid New Zealand or foreign passport with at least three months of remaining validity.
- If you plan to use a document other than a passport, please consult our staff to confirm acceptable alternatives.
2.New Zealand Visa
If you are using a foreign (non-New Zealand) passport, a valid New Zealand visa must also be provided.
3.Proof of Address
You will need to provide an original document issued within the past three months from a government department, a New Zealand local bank statement, or a utility bill. The document must clearly display your full name and residential address.
4.Tax Information
You will be required to provide your IRD number and applicable tax rate to allow the bank to withhold interest tax on your behalf. If you earn income from a country other than New Zealand, please also provide a copy of your tax identification document from that country (e.g., a copy of your Chinese Resident Identity Card for income from China).

1.BOCNZ does not offer cash, cheque, or ATM services.
2.For long-term inactive accounts, the Bank reserves the right to temporarily freeze or close the account.
