The Year of the Dragon has gone but its power is left; the Year of the Snake is here as the Spring is near. The biggest once-a-year Chinese New Year celebration in Europe took place at the London Trafalgar Square on 10 February 2013, also known as 1 January. in the Chinese calendar. Chinese Ambassador to the UK Mr Liu Xiaoming, Deputy Mayor of London for Education and Culture Madam Munira Mirza, other representatives and guests from London Chinese Chinatown Association and Chinese organisations in the UK, and about 300,000 visitors from all over the world attended the celebration.

Besides traditional flying lion dance and dragon dance, and dragon eye dotting ceremony, Chengdu Nationality Troupe along with other artists brought exciting performances to the audience this year. The most welcomed interactive event during the celebration was that Money God from Bank of China handed out lucky red envelopes to visitors and offered his sincerest wishes in the Year of the Snake.

During the day, the Bank set up a marketing marquee in front of National Gallery. The staff warmly welcomed every visitor who came to the marquee, answered their questions with enthusiasm, actively introduced the Bank’s products and business and presented small souvenirs to them, which were very popular among visitors.

This year is the 12th consecutive year that the Bank has supported this traditional festival celebration in London. This is consistent with the Bank’s continuous practice in carrying out corporate social responsibilities, aiming to promote Chinese culture and also express sincere wishes and happiness to every overseas Chinese visitor during the Spring Festival.
