Mr Liu Jin, the President of Bank of China welcomed the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Nicholas Lyons, and the delegates in Beijing on 8th June 2023. Zhang Xiaodong, the Vice President of Bank of China, also attended the meeting.
Mr. Liu expressed the view that Bank of China has always treated the UK as a key market since the establishment of the Bank’s first overseas branch in London in 1929. Bank of China London has developed into a key member of the financial institutions community located in the City of London. He thanked the City of London for its support given to the Bank, and looked forward to further co-operation in the coming years and beyond.
The Lord Mayor showed his appreciation to Bank of China for its long-term investment in the UK, spoke highly of Bank of China London’s contribution to the City of London and affirmed the Bank's outstanding achievements in promoting the growth of China-UK finance and trade and strengthening green finance cooperation. Chinese financial institutions have been increasingly active in the City of London and there is great potential for future collaboration.
Mr. Liu and the Lord Mayor also had in-depth discussions about the economic and financial situation, the impact of innovations in technology on the financial industry, collaborative efforts in the development of sustainable finance and asset management and the opportunities presented by the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).
