Bank of China and National Centre for the Performing Arts Announce Strategic Cooperation

On June 23, 2008, Bank of China and National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) entered into a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. Under the agreement, Bank of China will be a strategic partner of NCPA from 2008 to 2010. During that period, the two parties will work together to promote Sino-foreign and domestic cultural and arts exchange activities in China, aiming to achieve a win-win cooperation while promoting the prosperity of Chinese culture and arts. More specifically, the bank will be the exclusive sponsor of the Mid-Autumn Festival concerts featuring intense traditional Chinese music and to be held at NCPA in the period. In addition, all the commercial banks, investment banks, securities and insurance institutions under Bank of China Group will get involved in the comprehensive cooperation with NCPA. For example, Bank of China Insurance Company Limited will be the major provider of integrated property insurance service for NCPA.

Mr. Li Lihui, President of the bank said at the signing ceremony, "As a bank with 100 years of history, Bank of China has always played an active part in public welfare activities and Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, contributing to the society in various ways. By taking this opportunity to establish a long-term strategic partnership with NCPA sharing the common vision with the bank, Bank of China expects to promote the development of Chinese culture and arts through the two parties' cooperation, and fulfill Bank of China's commitment towards its corporate social responsibility."

Mr. Chen Ping, NCPA President, addressed, "The cooperation arises from the common love of arts and reflects a strong sense of the two parties' social responsibility of promoting the prosperity of Chinese culture and arts. Since the beginning of its founding, NCPA has aimed to become the holy palace of national performing arts, the pioneer for spread of arts education, the advocator of Sino-foreign cultural exchange and the largest platform for innovative cultural industries in China. We believe the two parties will create harmonious cultural and arts atmosphere for the broad masses to share the development of culture and arts."

The activities include performances of the National Ballet of China and the China National Symphony Orchestra, Beijing International Music Festival, Chinese Roots cultural events held by overseas Chinese, Year of Chinese Culture in Paris, Tianjin Week in Italy, Beijing Olympics Photo Exhibition during the Chinese Cultural Festival in London, the overseas performance of China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe and so on. Moreover, Bank of China sponsored the Chinese garden art to make its first debut in the worldwide horticultural event -- 2007 Chelsea Flower Show, and donated RMB 2 million to the construction of China National Pavilion of 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
