2011-02-23

On February 19, the "Art Lectures" of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, sponsored by Bank of China, delivered a winter special lecture - "a different ‘The Nutcracker', a different world of myth, a different ballet".Actors and artistic experts from the National Ballet of China interpreted the artistic charm and cultural connotation of the Chinese version of "The Nutcracker" by demonstrations for more than 200 audiences.

Since 2011, Bank of China has greatly supported the "Art Lectures" of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. With "make the performing arts accessible to every one" as its objective, the "Art Lectures" is committed to building a platform for the spread of high art, to provide opportunities of appreciating art and perceiving life for more people. As a long-term strategic partner of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Bank of China actively joins the work of art promotion and popularization, and integrates art resources to provide customers with a broad range of value-added services.

As a century-old classical ballet, "The Nutcracker" is so popular among Chinese audiences and plays a significant role in molding artistic sentiments and cultivating aesthetic tastes of children. The Chinese version of "The Nutcracker" tells a story happening in Beijing at New Year's Eve, which, in accompaniment of Tchaikovsky's music, vividly shows Chinese folk customs. By ingeniously incorporating Chinese and Western elements, the ballet has made a stir since it was first put on the stage. It is really a fresh experience that the winter special lecture allows the leading roles starring in "The Nutcracker" to meet with the audience at "Art Lectures", and present art lovers with the inside story of choreography by a live show. With the interpretation of artists, over a hundred of customers of Bank of China and their children enjoyed a happy time under the enduring charm of ballet.

It is reported that the "Art Lectures" will provide more than 300 art lectures and art experience activities throughout the year. And special lectures held each month will provide more audience with opportunities to visit the National Centre for the Performing Arts and access the arts free of charge.
