
Founded in 2012, the Guangzhou Marathon has been held for 12 editions. Since 2017, it has been selected as one of the four inaugural events of the China Marathon Majors and was further certified as a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race in 2018. Themed on “Renowned City, Harmony, and Health”, the Guangzhou Marathon has successfully combined the charm of competition with the concept of national fitness. It has become a glamorous city name card that helps to promote the Guangzhou Asian Games spirit, advocate a healthy lifestyle, enhance the visibility and influence of Guangzhou, and display its great economic and social achievements. The event is enthusiastically followed and loved by marathon enthusiasts every year.
In 2026, the 13th edition of the Guangzhou Marathon will be held on Sunday, December 20, with an entry quota of 30,000 marathon runners. It is hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and organized by the Administration of Sports of Guangzhou Municipality, the People's Governments of Yuexiu District, Haizhu District, Liwan District, and Tianhe District, the Guangzhou Sports Competitions Center, and the Guangzhou Athletics Association. The course runs alongside the Pearl River, offering runners a unique tour of Lingnan scenic spots, time-honored cultural attractions, and impressive modern architecture.
In 2026, the Organizing Committee will continuously endeavor to provide high-quality runner services and diverse activities, aiming to make the Guangzhou Marathon a premier sporting and cultural event for the city.

● Age Requirements
Athletes must be at least 20 years old in the year of the race.
Athletes aged 65 or above shall carefully assess their health status. They must submit a co-signed Participation Commitment, signed by themselves and their family members (including spouse, parents, adult children, and other adult relatives living together).
● Performance Requirements
Applicants shall have completed a full marathon or two half marathons within the 24-month period prior to the registration deadline. Results from virtual or online marathons will not be accepted.
