Security Tips on E-Payment of Bank of China
In order to make your E-Payment more secure and convenient, Bank of China hereby reminds you of the following security matters:
1. Bewaring of false websites
Select large websites with good reputation and long operating history to handle online shopping business and prevent illegal online merchants from stealing your card number or other important personal information. Do not go shopping on the unknown websites and check the URL upon your access.
When logging on the e-payment page of Bank of China from the merchant’s website, you should type into “user name” and “password” before your entry into the e-payment page of Bank of China and pay attention to checking your “reserved message”.
2. Checking payment information
Upon your payment, please check “merchant name”, “name of goods”, “quantity”, “total amount” and other information displayed on the page so as to avoid making payment by mistake.
3. Blocking hacker attacks
Install anti-virus software and firewall software on your computer and make timely updates.
Restrain from using E-Payment function on computers in such public places as Internet bars to protect important information like user name, card number and password from being stolen by others. After completion of payment transaction, close the related page in time to avoid any further risk-bearing transaction.
Download the newest security programs and patches regularly to your operating system and browser.
4. Taking notice of password security
For the password, a simple combination of personal information should be avoided. ID card number, date of birth and phone number, etc. cannot be selected for your password; ruleless alpha-numeric character combination is suggested to make the payment password more difficult to crack; please change your online banking logon password in a timely fashion and do not make it the same as your withdrawal password.
5. Safekeeping your E-token
Please keep your E-token in a proper manner and do not give it to the others. In case that your E-token is lost, please go to the bank counter to go through loss-reporting and re-issuance procedures as soon as practicable.
6. Other considerations
1) In the whole process of online shopping, the Bank just provides the customer with E-Payment service instead of engaging into other links of the transaction. So before going shopping online, the customer should learn goodwill of the merchant first to avoid being cheated.
2) When applying for E-Payment, you can customize your payment limit for transaction freely according to your personal needs. Please set your limit in line with your actual use in order to avoid any possible economic loss in the future.
3) The Bank will not demand getting your online banking password and withdrawal password out of any reason. You should be highly cautious of any e-mail or bank website that requires you to provide your banking card number and password with the reasons such as “abnormal account transaction”.
4) After completion of transaction, regardless whether the system gives you the hint of success or not, you should make inquiry of account balance and trading statement. Please examine historical trading statement and print online banking reconciliation slip regularly. In case of finding any abnormal transaction or financial error, please contact the Bank immediately to avoid loss.
5) If the user has any other question about account or security, please call 95566.
