Credit rating change from IPO to 2007-end

Standard & Poor's:

On Nov 22 2007, Standard & Poor's announced to upgrade BOC's Long-term Counterparty Credit Rating from 'BBB+' to 'A-', and confirmed BOC's Short-term Counterparty Credit Rating at 'A-2' with 'Stable' outlook.

Moody's Investors Service:

On July 26 2007, Moody's Investors Service announced to upgrade BOC's Foreign Currency Long-term Deposit Ratings from 'A2' to 'A1', and confirmed BOC's Foreign Currency Short-term Deposit Ratings at 'P-1' with 'Stable' outlook.

Fitch:

On Nov 17 2007, Fitch announced to upgrade BOC's Long-term Issuer Default Rating from 'A-' to 'A' and upgrade BOC's Short-term Issuer Default Rating from 'F2' to 'F1' with 'Stable' outlook. Meanwhile Fitch confirmed BOC's Individual Rating at 'A', Support Rating at '1' and upgraded Support Rating Floor from 'A-' to 'A'.

Moody's Investors Service:

On Jun 9 2010, Moody's Investors Service announced to upgrade BOC's Bank Financial Strength Ratings from 'D-' to 'D'.

On Sept 27 2010, Moody's Investors Service announced to downgrade the outlook of BOC's Long-term Deposit Ratings and Senior Unsecured Debt Rating from 'Positive' to 'Stable'.

Standard & Poor's:

On Nov 30 2011,Standard & Poor's announced to upgrade BOC's Long-term Counterparty Credit Rating from 'A-' to 'A', and Short-term Counterparty Credit Rating from 'A-2' to 'A-1' with 'Stable' outlook.

Fitch:

On July 20 2011, Fitch launched Viability Rating for global financial institutions and assigned 'bb' Viability Rating to Bank of China.

Moody's Investors Service:

On April 30, 2014, Moody’s Investor Service announced to upgrade the standalone bank financial strength rating (BFSR)/baseline credit assessment (BCA) of Bank of China Ltd (the ‘Bank’) from ‘D/ba2’ to ‘C-/baa2’, maintained the Bank’s long-term/short-term deposit ratings at ‘A1/P-1’ and ‘Stable’ rating outlook.

On 2 March 2016, Moody's Investors Service changed the outlook on BOC's rating to negative from stable.

Standard & Poor’s:

On December 19, 2016, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services announced to upgrade the Stand-alone Credit Profile of BOC from ‘bbb’ to ‘bbb+’, and maintained the Bank’s Long-term/Short-term Counterparty Credit Rating at ‘A/A-1’ and ‘Stable’ rating outlook.

Moody’s Investors Service:

On May 24, 2017, Moody’s Investors Service announced to affirm the ‘A1/P-1’ Long-term/Short-term Foreign Currency Deposit Rating and ‘baa2’ Baseline Credit Assessment of BOC, and revised its rating outlook from ‘Negative’ to ‘Stable’.

Credit rating change during the year of 2018

Fitch:

On May 16 2018, Fitch announced to upgrade BOC’s Viability Rating from ‘bb’ to ‘bb+’, and affirmed the Long-term /Short-term Issuer Default Rating at ‘A/F1’ with ‘Stable’ rating outlook.

Moody’s Investors Service:

On May 30 2018, Moody’s Investors Service announced to upgrade BOC’s Baseline Credit Assessment from ‘baa2’to ‘baa1’, and affirmed the Long-term/Short-term Foreign Currency Deposit Rating at ‘A1/P-1’ with ‘Stable’ rating outlook.

Credit rating change during the year of 2019

Standard & Poor’s:

On March 26, 2019, S&P Global Ratings announced to upgrade the Stand-alone Credit Profile of BOC from ‘bbb+’ to ‘a-’, and affirmed the Bank’s Long-term/Short-term Counterparty Credit Rating at ‘A/A-1’ with ‘Stable’ rating outlook.

Fitch:

On Octorber 29, 2019, Fitch announced to upgrade the Short-term Foreign Currency Issuer Default Ratings of BOC from ‘F1’ to ‘F1+’, and affirmed the Bank’s Long-term Foreign Currency Issuer Default Ratings at ‘A’ with ‘Stable’ rating outlook.
