Bank of China Pataca Banknotes (2020 Edition)
Bank of China Pataca Banknotes (2020 Edition) used the motif of the “Southern Lion” on the obverse, reflecting the Lingnan cultural characteristics of openness and inclusiveness, to forge ahead with determination like the Awaken Lion, and the humanistic spirit of national unity, that is inherent in the Macau culture. Landmark buildings and icons that are used as the main motif on the reverse, presents the deep historical heritage of Macau, the rich cultural connotations, the social characteristic of inclusiveness and the unique charms of the city through a variety of themes.

Spark® Pattern | When the banknote is tilted, the southern lion pattern on top right-hand corner of the front side changes colours from magenta to green and the shimmering ring in the pattern moves correspondingly. |
Windowed Security Thread | The color of the metallic security thread on the left of the front side changes from magenta to green when the banknote is tilted. The denomination numeral and the abbreviation of the issuing bank "BOC" could be seen against the light. |
Watermark | The golden lotus pattern and denomination numeral on the left of the front side are visible when the banknote is held up to the light. |
See through register | The patterns on bottom left-hand corner of the front and on bottom right-hand corner of the back can fit perfectly to form the denomination numeral when the note is held up to the light. |
Bi-fluorescence | When the note is exposed to UV light, two fluorescent colors could been seen on bottom right-hand corner of the back side. |
