Bank of China 100th Anniversary Commemorative Banknotes

To celebrate the centenary of the founding of Bank of China, Bank of China Limited has issued the Bank of China 100th Anniversary Commemorative Banknotes, in denomination of MOP100 in February 2012.

The front side of the 100th Anniversary Commemorative Banknote is tinted in gold and illustrating the Bank of China Head Office Building which is designed by Mr. Leoh Ming Pei, the world famous Chinese American Architect. The background has incorporated the magnificent Great Wall and the press release of the founding of the Bank of China in 1912, representing that Bank of China, with a long history, will pursuit the commitment to excellence, the philosophy of steady operation, be customer oriented and trustworthy. In the middle of the front, there is a number “100” in Chinese calligraphy to highlight the commemorative theme of the banknote. The symbol of “∞” has been used to replace the “00” of “100” to imply that Bank of China will continue to prosper and grow without limitation.

The key tone at the back side of the banknote is green and its theme is a lotus in Chinese ink and wash painting. Lotus, being the floral emblem of Macau SAR and deep-rooted with splendid leaves, symbolizes holiness, tranquility, quietness and peacefulness and further implies that Macau SAR will continue to prosper with harmony and peace.

Security Features Introduction
Multi-Tonal Watermark The multi-tonal watermark is made with specific process, the lotus pattern is visible when the banknote is held up against light.
Highlight Watermark The highlight watermark is made by specific process, the denomination numeral "100" displays a high contrast with paper when the banknote is hold up against light.
Intaglio Tactile Feature  This security feature is intaglio printed and has strong tactility by touch.
Screen-Printing SPARK® The lotus pattern is printed with OVMI® on the bottom left corner of the front side, it shows the color changes between golden and green with a rolling bar effect in different angles when the banknote is tilted or rotated.
Invisible Fluorescent Pattern The pattern is printed with invisible fluorescent ink. It appears yellow fluorescence under UV light.
Visible Fluorescent Pattern A part of offset printed pattern with fluorescent ink fluoresces yellow and green on the front side and green on the back side under UV light.
Intaglio Micro-text By using a magnifier, intaglio printed micro-letters of "100" can be found in the vertical pattern on the right of denomination numeral "100" on the upper left corner of the front side.
Dual-Color Magnetic Irregular-Shaped Serial Number The horizontal serial number is printed with paired red fluorescent ink and black magnetic ink, it shows a red-black orlof printing effect. The black number is magnetically machine-readable.
MOTION® Windowed Security Thread The dynamic pattern formed by MOTION® micro-lens technology on the security thread can be seen with an up-down and left-right moving effect by tilting and rotating.
