Olympic Games Commemorative Banknotes

To commemorate the 29th Olympic Games that was held in Beijing, with the approval by the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, in accordance with Administrative Regulation No. 5/2008 of the Macau Special Administrative Region, the Bank of China Macau Branch was authorized to issue the 29th Olympic Games commemorative MOP banknotes, with face value of MOP20.

The obverse of the commemorative banknotes feature the emblem of the Beijing Olympic Games, the pillars of the buildings of the ancient Olympic Games and the Bank of China Building in Macau. The reverse side depicts the National Stadium of the Beijing Olympic Games --- the Bird's Nest, the design of the Olympic banknotes reflects the inheritance and development of the Olympic spirit and the concept of "Macau’s connection with the Olympic Games".

Security Features Introduction
SPARK® Denomination Numeral The denomination numeral "20" is printed with OVMI®, it shows the color changes between golden and green with a rolling bar effect in different angles when the banknote is tilted or rotated.
Visible Fluorescent Serial Number The dark blue serial number is printed with fluorescent ink. It appears yellow fluorescence under UV light.
Highlight Watermark The highlight watermark is made by specific process, the denomination numeral "20" displays a high contrast with paper when the banknote is hold up against light.
Watermark The solid watermark is made by specific process, the Bird's Nest Stadium pattern is visible when the banknote is held up against light.
Dual-Color Magnetic Irregular-Shaped Serial Number The horizontal serial number is printed with red and black magnetic ink, it shows a red-black orlof printing effect. The number is magnetically machine-readable.
Color-Shifting Windowed Thread The color-shifting windowed security thread is made by specific process. It shows green when viewed at perpendicular angle and turns purple when the banknote is tilted. The letters of "Beijing 2008" on the security thread are visible when viewed against light.
Invisible Fluorescent Denomination Numeral The denomination numeral is printed with invisible fluorescent ink. It appears yellow fluorescence under UV light.
Orlof Intaglio Printing The pattern is orlof intaglio printed, it shows a conjunction of lines in two different colors.
Intaglio Micro-Text By using a magnifier, intaglio printed micro-letters of "20" with a high black-white contrast can be found in the denomination numeral pattern on the front side.
Offset Micro text  By using a magnifier, offset printed micro-letters can be seen clearly.
Intaglio Tactile Feature  This security feature is intaglio printed and has strong tactility by touch.
Iridescent Pattern The pattern is printed with iridescent ink. The image of lotus appears when the banknote is tilted.
Visible Fluorescent Pattern A part of offset printed pattern with fluorescent ink on the reverse fluoresces yellow under UV light.
Invisible Fluorescent Pattern The invisible fluorescent fibers are made by specific banknote paper making process. It appears red, green and blue under UV light.
Intaglio Micro-Text By using a magnifier, intaglio printed micro-letters can be found in the horizontal pattern above "澳門" on the back side.
