On 6th August 2007, Mr. Zhang Wan Nian, the 61-year-old retired worker at Bank of China Fuxin Branch, Liaoning Province, China arrived Macau through Gongbei Port, Zhuhai after finishing the itinerary of his ‘Welcome Beijing Olympic Games, Love BOC, Ride around China’ among Guangdong Province. Mr. Cheong Chi Sang, the Deputy General Manager of Bank of China Macau Branch expressed warm welcome to Mr. Zhang at Bank of China Macau Branch.
Being the pioneer promoting the Beijing Olympic Games by riding bicycle around China, Mr. Zhang in blue sportswear rode his bicycle with a banner of BOC’s ‘Beijing 2008 Banking Partner’ brand name in that rainy day. Furthermore, Mr. Zhang presented his banner with the collection of seals and presidents’ wordings from different branches of Bank of China.
On the way of his journey, Mr. Zhang would reach local branches in each Chinese city, sealing their stamps on the banner and accomplished banking business for promoting Bank of China. In the year 2001, Mr. Zhang started his journey from Fuxin Branch, Liaoning Province, China, his hometown. Since then, his footsteps covered 31 provinces and special administrative regions, 990 cities and villages as well as 525 BOC branches, and its length of itinerary is more than 57 thousand kilometers. His high spirits of promoting Olympic Games and adaptation of difficult time were widely reported by mass media in China, Macau and various places.
Mr. Zhang would approach Hong Kong, the last stop of his China tour on the 8th Aug when the countdown one year left of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games will be held there. After his journey, the museum of Bank of China headquarter would be given to keep the banner.
