To encourage a broad participation in social practices by the students from both China and UK, the Bank actively participated in the sponsorship in the 2011 Frontrunner - Leaders of Tomorrow program, organized by Common Purpose.
The kick-off ceremony was held in May on the 9th floor of 1 Lothbury, with a total of more than 130 participants including leaders from nearly 70 well-known universities in UK, the British Council of Culture and local educational institutions, and student representatives.
At the ceremony, Mr Fang reiterated that the Bank had long supported the social practices carried out by Chinese students in the UK and would provide more financial products and services to Chinese students currently studying in the UK. A video was also played featuring Ronald Arculli, the Board Chairman of Common Purpose Hong Kong Division and Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) who had expressed his appreciation to Bank of China and other sponsors and encouraged a comprehensive personal development by the young people through the application of theories in the practices and mutual communications.
Established in 1989 by Madam Julia Middleton, Common Purpose is an independent training organization with headquarter in London, and divisions in Germany, France, Republic of Ireland, and Holland. Its Hong Kong Division was established in 2010.
