On September 27, the City of London celebrated its annual charity event City Giving Day. Hundreds of companies in the City have fulfilled their corporate social responsibilities through various activities to support charities, the society and the community.

Each year City Giving Day celebrates the value of the City to society and how businesses can make a difference, as part of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal’s bid to create a fair society. As one of the founding companies of the City Giving Day, Bank of China London Branch has actively participated and supported it for the eighth consecutive year since the first City Giving Day launched in 2015.
The theme of 2022’s event is “People and Purpose” to promote ESG awareness and D&I across the Bank. After two years’ COVID break, the famous BOC Market is back to the 9th floor again to encourage sale of green or eco-products. The event activities also include the Green Auction, Green Olympics and Green Quiz Competition, attracting many employees to participate in it.

Mr Fang Wenjian, the general manager of Bank of China limited London Brach and the CEO of Bank of China (UK) Limited, delivered an opening address. He warmly welcomed the BOC City Giving Day activities back offline, and he said the day was not only the Bank’s annual charity festival but also the opportunity to celebrate the diversity in the Bank. London Branch is the most diversified Branch within the whole BOC group, with colleagues from more than 30 different countries all over the world. Mr Fang Wenjian also highlighted the ESG theme for this year's event, and encouraged employees to be more green and protect the planet from the small things of life and work.
The Lord Mayor Alderman Vincent Keaveny attended the Bank’s celebration and visited the green market. In his speech, he thanked Bank of China for its energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the City of London and City Giving Day. He was delighted that Bank of China is part of the big family of City of London. The City of London will continue to maintain good relations with Bank of China and further promote friendly cooperation.
With the joint efforts of all of the staff, the event has turned out to be another big success. The celebration of City Giving Day has further demonstrated Bank of China’s commitment in corporate social responsibility and promoting the Bank’s image in the local community.
