An eye-catching float with more than 50 members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK) led by Bank of China and six other Chinese enterprises joined the parade to celebrate the inauguration of the Lord Mayor of the City of London on 12th November 2022. The tradition, which began in 1215, is held annually with a parade of floats accompanying the Lord Mayor.

This year's event featured a diverse parade of 133 floats, including the centuries-old London Guild, a diverse range of local companies, schools, charities and the Royal Army, Navy and Air Force Band, all singing and dancing as they celebrated the swearing in of the 694th Lord Mayor of the City along a route over 5km long.
With COP27 taking place in Egypt, the CCCUK float was formed with the theme of "Bring Nature Back to Our Lives", with two inflatable giant pandas and a bamboo forest to express the vision of Chinese enterprises and the British community working together for green development and environmental protection. The staff of Bank of China displayed a banner with "Hello Nicholas" to pay tribute to Nicholas Lyons, the new Lord Mayor of the City of London.

Mr. Fang Wenjian, General Manager of Bank of China Limited London Branch and Chairman of the CCCUK, was present to witness the inauguration of the 694th Lord Mayor of the City of London and met with all the representatives of the Chinese companies participating in the parade.

As a traditional ceremony in the City, the Lord Mayor of the City of London's inaugural parade attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. The new Lord Mayor, Nicholas Lyons, waved to the crowds from his golden carriage. With immediate effect, he became the 694th Lord Mayor of the City of London and began a year-long tenure as an international ambassador for the UK financial services sector.
