Product Description
You can use your card to pay for goods and services in the UK and abroad wherever you see the VISA sign.
- Easy and Secure Electronic Transactions
Your card enables you to make payments online and over the telephone. You may be asked for the Card Verification Value (CVV) number, which is the last 3 digits on the back of your card and your billing address (please make sure the address you quoted is the same as we you gave us for our bank record. However, it is NOT necessary to provide your PIN for non face-to-face transactions, but some websites will require you to provide the “One Time Only” verification code sent to your preregistered mobile number on file.
Bank card details, such as card number, CVV number, expiration date and PINs may be required to authorise payments. Only share card details with merchants and websites that you trust to take payment and safeguard your information. If you believe someone else knows your PIN or CVV number, contact the bank immediately to freeze your card and request a replacement card.
You can withdraw cash at any ATM and bank branch displaying the VISA sign all over the world. The notes you obtain outside UK will be in local currency.

- Short Message Services (SMS) Alerts
To ensure you are in control of your credit card spending and combat third parties’ fraud, our bank offers free of charge SMS messaging services to alert you of or confirm your recent credit card activities. You may also receive SMS messages for recurring transactions (such as monthly subscriptions), changes to card status, and repayment status. These alerts generally happen at night or early morning. Product Features
- Up to 50 days of interest free period (including cash advances) if you pay your balance in full and on time every month and have no arrears.
- For our personal classic card, there is no annual fee charge, the standard interest rate is 17.1% per annum, the APR is 18.50%.
- For our personal gold card, there is no annual fee, the standard interest rate is 12.7% per annum, the APR is 13.50%.
- For our business card, the annual fee is £40, the standard interest rate is 12.7% per annum, the APR is 20.9%.
Application Requirements
Subject to status. To be eligible for a Great Wall International Credit Card, you must:
1. Be aged 18 or above for the main card.
2. Be aged 16 or above for the additional card.
3. Hold an existing bank account with Bank of China (UK) Limited with no previous unsatisfactory account operating history, default payment or bad debt.
4. Be in employment and/or have a regular income.
5. Reside in the United Kingdom.
6. General Credit Card Conditions apply.
Application Procedures
1. Please download, complete and sign a ‘Great Wall International Credit Card Application Form’ from our website. You can also request a paper form from any Bank of China (UK) Limited branch.
2. Please visit any of our branches with the application form and other required documents.
Required Documents
Please provide us with your valid ID, current bank statement for the last three months and proof of employment (or proof of income). We may ask you to provide additional documents depending on the circumstances of your application.
Important Information
If you lose your card, or it is stolen, or you notice unauthorised transactions on your account, please contact our Card Centre Customer Hotline immediately at +44 20 7282 8763 available 24/7. You are not liable for unauthorised transactions resulting from the loss or theft of your card, subject to the Great Wall International Credit Card General Terms and Conditions.
Please contact us at +44 20 7282 8763 available 24/7 if your card is worn or damaged. We will arrange a replacement card for you. We will charge £5 for each replacement card that we provide.
Your renewal card will be sent to you before your card expires. If you have not received your renewal card by the card after expiry date, please contact us at +44 20 7282 8763 available 24/7.
The Chip & PIN Protection
At retailers and ATMs, you will be asked to key your 4-digit PIN into a keypad. Do not let anyone see which numbers you press. Please keep your card away from magnetic sources such as security devices, mobile phones, hi-fi speakers, microwaves etc, as your chip may become defective and unlikely to work properly.
At Bank of China (UK) Limited, the security of your account and personal information is a top priority. To help protect you from potential fraud and unauthorised transactions, we employ comprehensive card fraud monitoring systems that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our fraud detection tools continuously monitor your card activity for any unusual or suspicious transactions.
In the event that we identify any transactions that appear to be outside of your typical spending patterns, we may take immediate action to protect your account. For example, excessive payments, repetitive returns or chargebacks, unusual amounts.
If we detect any of these patterns, we may reach out to you directly through the contact details you have provided to verify the legitimacy of the transactions. Our goal is to ensure that no unauthorised charges are made to your account, and to assist you in taking immediate action if fraud is suspected.
In certain cases, we may temporarily suspend your card or decline specific transactions until we can confirm their authenticity. If you are ever contacted by us regarding suspicious activity, it is important that you respond promptly to avoid any disruption in service. However, bank staff will never ask you to provide a one time verification code, PIN, CVV number or request that you move your funds to a ‘safe’ account. We also encourage you to regularly review your account statements and to report any unauthorised or suspicious transactions to us as soon as possible. Our team is available to assist you and investigate any concerns you may have.
By using your Bank of China (UK) Limited card, you acknowledge and agree to the monitoring of your account for fraud prevention purposes, and authorise us to take any necessary actions to protect your financial security.
A Credit Card Holder will be awarded 10 points for every £1 spent using the Card. Points earned will be stated on the monthly Card Account statement. Rewards are subject to availability. If you don't pay off any outstanding balance in full, interest and late fees will be charged. If you make only the minimum payment each month, you will have to pay interest in the outstanding amount, and it will take you longer to clear your balance.
