What is contactless payment?

Contactless payment is a fast and easy way to pay for goods and services under £100 without entering a PIN. All you have to do is place your contactless card over the contactless reader to make the payment.

How do I know if my card comes with contactless?

If you find this logo on your card, then it is a contactless card.

Can I use my new contactless card straight away?

No. You must activate your card first. To activate your Credit and Debit Card, you can either call our Customer Services hotline on +44(0) 20 7282 8763 which is available 24/7, or visit one of our UK branches. Alternatively, you can sign the card activation slip and either hand it to any Bank of China (UK) Limited branch, or post it to the following freepost address:

Freepost RSRL – TXTB – EZBR, Bank of China (UK) Limited Card Centre, 1 Lothbury, London EC2R 7DB

For Debit Card, you can also activate your card via online banking/mobile banking.

However, before you can use your card’s contactless feature for the first time you will need to complete a transaction by Chip & PIN verification.

How do I know if a retailer accepts contactless payments?

Any retailer who displays the contactless symbol can accept contactless payments. You can use your contactless card wherever you see the contactless symbol. There are already lots of retailers in the UK that offer contactless payments, for more information visit Visa's website www.visa.co.uk/products/visa_contactless.
