On October 9, 2004, Bank of China spokesman Wang Zhaowen announced that Bank of China was awarded "Best Project Finance Bank in Asia" by Global Finance in its "World's Best Project Finance Banks 2004" award.
This year's top banks were selected through the analysis of objective as well as subjective criteria. Among factors considered were the banks' quantitative performances over the past year, the banks' innovations in doing deals, and the strength of the banks' project finance teams.
In making this year's selections, the editors of Global Finance considered data provided by the banks and by leading international market research organizations, and surveyed key project finance attorneys, consultants and other market observers.
This is also the fourth award handed out this year to Bank of China by the magazine. Months before, Bank of China had been awarded "Best Trade Finance Bank in China 2004", "Best Foreign Exchange Bank in China 2004" and "Best Bank in China".
