On 8 September, Bank of China spokesman Wang Zhaowen made a statement regarding some reports by overseas media. He said: “we have noticed the press release made by some overseas journals today. At present, we have no knowledge of any such investigation as mentioned. Therefore we have no comment to make on it.”
He further expressed that Bank of China has always been attaching great importance to anti-money laundering activities, and is committed to ensuring that its operation is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines of law-enforcement and regulatory authorities.
