Bank of China Spokesman Makes a Statement Regarding Mr. Li Shan’s Resignation from BOCI

On October 28 2005, Bank of China spokesman Wang Zhaowen made a statement regarding Mr. Li Shan’s resignation from BOC International Holdings Limited.

He said, Mr. Li Shan from our wholly owned investment banking arm, BOC International Holdings Limited (BOCI), has recently proposed to resign from his position as the Chief Executive Officer of BOCI and from other positions held at Bank of China Limited because of his personal career choices. We respect his decision, and the Board of Directors of BOCI has approved his resignation and decided to appoint Mr. Wang Yan as the acting CEO.

During his years serving as the CEO of BOCI, Mr. Li made significant achievements in restructuring the management framework as well as redefining the business model of the company. Under his leadership, all aspects of the business at BOCI have made a great progress. We sincerely thank Mr. Li for his efforts and contributions to the development of BOCI. We would also like to wish Mr. Li tremendous success in his new career.
