China Network Communications Group Corporation (CNC Group), the fixed communication partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and Bank of China (BOC), the official banking partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games signed an agreement on building an Olympic strategic cooperation and partnership between the two sides at Beijing Xinyuan Hotel at 17 pm on November 10, 2005. Li Lihui, president of BOC, Zhang Chunjiang, general manager of CNC, Hua Qingshan, vice-president of BOC, Zhao Jidong, deputy general manager of CNC, Li Fushen, chief accountant of CNC and Yuan Bin, director of Marketing Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) attended the signing ceremony. The sixth-generation TOP partners of the International Olympic Committee and representatives of the BOCOG partners witnessed the ceremony and congratulated on signing of the agreement.
CNC and BOC, official partners for Beijing Olympic Games will offer high-quality services in fixed telecommunications and banking services respectively for Beijing Olympics, Beijing Paralympics, BOCOG, Chinese Olympic Committee, Turin Winter Olympics and Chinese delegation to the Beijing Olympics. The agreement concluded between the two corporations marks not only their first strategic cooperation on the platform of the Olympics, but also the first comprehensive cooperation attempt between Beijing Olympic partners. In the future, the two sides will regard each other as strategic partner on the platform of Olympics, therefore carry out active collaborations in information exchange and sharing, product development and business cooperation, customer services and resource sharing and Olympic-themed marketing campaigns. They will advance the business development through the link of a mutual customer relationship. A closer communication mechanism between the top management of both sides will also be established.
Li Lihui, President of Bank of China, noted that BOC and CNC had been giving full support to Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in light of the notions of “green Olympics, high-tech Olympics and people’s Olympics”. The agreement of the Olympic strategic partnership indicated a major step for the two corporations to seek joint development and win-win cooperation on the platform of Olympics, said the president. The two sides will joinly offer more efficient service and create greater value for their customers through joint product development, resource sharing and service upgrades. In the next1,000 days before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the two sides will joint efforts to support Beijing’s solemn pledge to hold a “high-level Olympic Games with distinguishing features” and advance towards the goal of “faster, higher, stronger”.
CNC General Manager Zhang Chunjiang said that when CNC became Olympic partner, CNC had pledged that it would, in light of the comany motto of “China Net, Collect World”, endeavour to provide Beijing 2008 Olympics with broadband communication services worthy of the notion of “high-tech Olympics”. To achieve this goal, Zhang said, CNC has set “Olympic strategy” as one of its three major business strategies. One of the important aspects of the strategy was to achieve development through cooperation.The Olympic strategic partnership between BOC and CNC will help the two sides to realize mutual complement in different fields and contribute to the optimizaztion of their product technologies and service qualities. The cooperation will not only create an even broader development scope for both sides, but also inject new vitality into the Beijing Olympics.
Officials from the BOCOG and other Olympic partners noted that the strategic partnership agreement between BOC and CNC is a positive attempt to promote and implement the cooperation among Olympic Partners. The BOC and CNC cooperation sets a good example in the Olympic history for Olympic partners, who may learn from their experiences to enhance business development.
BOC and CNC are expected to jointly launch broader and more in-depth cooperation based on the Olympic theme, which is believed to be splendid performance on the stage of Olympics.
