On May 7, accompanied by Dong Jianyue, President of Beijing Branch, President Xiao Gang and persons-in-chief from the Office, Olympic Affairs Office, Bankcard Center, IT Department, and Information Center visited the temporary bank offices for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
As required by BOCOG and BOC head office, Beijing Branch is going to set up five temporary bank offices to provide quality and convenient services to athletes, coaches, officials, media reporters and staff. These five bank offices are located in athletes’ village, media village, Main Press Center (MPC), International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and the IOC Hotel. Accompanied by heads of Beijing Branch and sub-branches, President Xiao visited first four temporary bank offices in the Olympic area.
During the visit to the construction site, President Xiao asked about details of safe deposit box and ATM machine, staff dining, etc. He pointed out that as windows of on-the-spot Olympic financial services, temporary bank offices represented the image of Bank of China. He hoped that Beijing Branch should quicken software installing and debugging, staff selection and training, apart from hardware construction.
The financial services provided in the temporary bank offices are:
1. Personal Banking Services:
RMB and foreign currencies settlement account
Foreign currency exchange
Credit Cards services
Inward and outward remittance
Selling and encashment of travelers’ checks
Other personal banking business
2. Corporate Banking Services:
Opening temporary RMB and foreign exchange account for overseas institutions
Temporary RMB and foreign exchange account settlement for overseas institutions
Temporary RMB and foreign exchange account inquiry for overseas institutions
Temporary RMB and foreign exchange account closure for overseas institutions
Other corporate banking services for overseas institutions
3. Considering the service requirements during the Olympic Games and referring to banking services in Athens Olympic Games and Torino Olympic Winter Games, Bank of China also provides bank services of safe deposit box in athlete village and media village, night safe business in media village, International Broadcasting Center and Main Press Center.
