On August 7, 2007, the opening ceremony for “Win at BOC, Enjoy the Olympics—2007 BOC Olympic Summer Camp”, organized by Personal Finance Department, was held in BOC Head Office Building. This is BOC’s second Olympic summer camp which themes at spreading Olympic culture and spirit among teenagers.
Different from last year, the 2007 summer campers were selected through on-line competition, which consisted of four parts, namely “Olympic Knowledge”, “About Friendliness”, “Little Finance Manager” and “Olympic-themed Show”. Out of the 5000 candidates from all over the country, 80 outperformed themselves and finally got the chance to attend summer camp.
There are both little pupil aged 9 and senior high school student aged 18 among the campers. Each came to Beijing with his own Olympic dream. Han Pengfei, 14, came from Tibet by air alone. He arrived one day earlier than others, however, the warm reception made him feel not lonely at all. He said, “This is the first time I get on a plane. I’m so excited that I hope the Olympic could begin now!”
On the opening ceremony, YAO Hua, General Manager of Personal Finance Department delivered a passionate speech and introduced the arrangement of the summer camp. In one week’s time, various Olympic-themed activities will be organized, such as visits to Olympic venues and interaction with Olympic stars. It will enable teenagers to know better about Beijing and Olympic Games. The campers will also visit places of interest such as Tian’anmen and the Great Wall to learn about the Chinese history and traditional culture, and to enhance their national pride and patriotism.
Afterwards, Mr. Yao sent souvenirs to the representative of the campers (upper-left) and Mr. Xie Baoning, Deputy Manager of BOC Olympic Affairs Office granted the camp’s flag and declared the opening of the camp (upper-right). Ms. Zhao Rong, Deputy Director of the Office awarded the campers with Certificate of Honor (under-left) and executive of BOC Insurance gave insurance policy to the campers (under-right).
The representative of the campers expresses best wishes to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and hoped to make contribute as a volunteer.

YANG Jingsheng, director from BOCOG Market Development Department was invited to the ceremony. He said that BOC, as a partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, had been supporting Olympic course. Such activity for teenagers was really a great chance to publicize about Olympics.
The summer camp lasts from August 6 to August 12. It is hoped that the 80 campers can truly understand and fall in love with the Olympics. After going back to their hometown, they can become “Olympic Messengers” who bring the Olympic culture to everybody around them.
