In honor of the remarkable success achieved by Chinese athletes in the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens, Bank of China held a cocktail party for Chinese Olympic Team at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Hellenic Republic on August 23rd, 2004.
Some 200 guests attended the cocktail, including Tang Zhenqi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Hellenic Republic, He Huixian, Vice-President of Chinese Olympics Committee, Hua Qingshan, Vice-President of Bank of China as well as guests from Greek financial industry, coaches and athletes from Chinese Olympic Team, BOC Great Wall Card 100 Fans Group and press. The coach general of China Weightlifting Team was first invited to introduce the athletes and coaches and their feelings toward success after years of hard work, which was then followed by warm speeches given by the Ambassador Tang Zhenqi, COC Vice-President He Huixian and BOC Vice-President Hua Qingshan. Representatives from BOC Great Wall Card 100 Fans Group presented to He Huixian, Vice-President of COC the signature banner from the “10,000 Signature in Support of Olympic Team”, a campaign launched by Weihai Branch, Bank of China.
Vice-President Hua Qingshan noted in his speech that Chinese athletes spared no efforts in earning every honor for the motherland. Every glittering medal witnesses the hard work and whole-hearted devotion of the athletes, coaches and staff members. And their pursuit of the ideal of “higher swifter stronger” deeply moves and inspires us. As the Banking Partner of the Beijing 2008 Games, Bank of China will continue to concern and support the sports causes of China. The bank will absorb the Olympic spirit and bring about a new era of consumption by credit in collaboration with other industries. During the party, guests and host happily cheered for the glorious success achieved by Chinese Olympic Team. Local artists performed excellent Greek dances with national characteristic.
