Notice about Public Request for Ideas and/or Slogans for Olympic Marketing

Dear BOC colleagues and customers,

July 13, 2001 was an exciting day for Chinese people, with 1.3 billion people fulfilling their centennial dream about Olympics. July 14, 2004 was a remarkable day for Bank of China, which through the unremitting efforts of its 200,000 employees and relying on its outstanding strength, first-class service and professional staff, stood out in the fierce competition and became banking partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Bank of China, the time-honored bank persistently in pursuit of prominence and innovation, goes hand in hand with Beijing Olympic Games, thus opening a new chapter in the development of Chinese banks.

BOC’s becoming banking partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games fully indicates approval and confidence of all social circles for the bank’s capability and quality of financial services. Serving Beijing Olympics helps to tune the bank in line with International standards, display the bank’s corporate culture and branding, and achieve the goal of growing through competition and developing through challenge. To further promote Olympic spirits, better serve Beijing Olympic Games, fully leverage on our rights as the banking partner, deepen Olympic marketing, advance the growth of banking business, and provide even better service to our customers, we now request ideas and/or slogans for Olympic marketing from BOC colleagues and customers. We hope you would participate actively and make contribution to BOC’s Olympic-related works.

I.   Content

Ideas and/or slogans of BOC Olympic marketing.

II.  Requirements for submitted works

1. The submitted works should keep in line with the characteristics of our banking businesses and the Olympic spirit of “faster, higher, stronger”, demonstrate BOC’s time-honored corporate culture and international bank image, and stress the bank’s efforts in striving for prominence and innovation and its persistent pursuit of excellent service for the customers.

2. The Olympic slogans should be succinct, lucid, strong, emotional and impressive, easy to remember and speak out, and easy for visual expression. English version is recommended.

3. Ideas for Olympic marketing should be original, creative, pragmatic and of banking characteristics.

III.  Scope and time

This request is addressed towards all BOC employees and customers. Participation is warmly welcomed.

This request begins at May 1st, 2005 and ends at June 30th, 2005.

IV.  Ways of submission

Works may be submitted through Bank-wide Notes, E-mail, post or fax. Please mark “Ideas and/or Slogans for Olympic Marketing” in subject of mail or fax and note clearly your name, company, detailed contact way and address.

V.  Appraisal and Prize

This request offers prizes for submitted works after appraisal by Olympic Affairs Department together with other relevant departments of the Head Office. The prizes are of commemorative and practical values.

One First Prize: Kodak digital camera

Two Second Prizes: Samsung mobile phone 

Three Third Prizes: Samsung MP3

Twenty Excellence Prizes: licensed Olympic product

For Olympic Marketing Slogans, there are:

One First Prize: Kodak digital camera

Two Second Prizes: Samsung mobile phone 

Three Third Prizes: Samsung MP3

Twenty Excellence Prizes: licensed Olympic product

Olympic Affairs Department of Head Office retains the ultimate interpretation rights of this request. Submitted works shall not violate others’ copyright. Once the submitted work is adopted (completely or partially) and the prize granted, the copyright belongs thereafter to Bank of China.
