
On August 1st, Dr. Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee hosted a business luncheon for local sponsors as acknowledgement of their contributions to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. BOC Executive Director and Vice-President Hua Qingshan attended the luncheon. Present at the luncheon were Vice Mayor of Beijing and BOCOG Executive Vice-President Liu Jingmin, BOCOG Executive Vice-Presidents Wang Wei and Yu Zaiqing, Chairman of IOC Marketing Commission Gerhard Heiberg, as well as representatives from the 2008 Beijing Partners.
Dr. Rogge spoke highly of the contributions of the local sponsors and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their support. He also pointed out by sponsoring the Games, the partners could showcase their brand and strength on an international platform, winning a better prospect for future development.
Mr. Liu remarked that BOCOG would continue to create a favourable condition for the Olympic partners. “We will spare no effort to protect the rights and benefits of the sponsors by promoting sponsor identities and fighting ambush market,” he said.
At the end of the luncheon, Dr. Rogge exchanged souvenirs with representatives from the 2008 Beijing Partners.
Since the launch of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Marketing Plan on September 1st 2003, nine giants have been selected as the official partners of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, namely Bank of China, China Network, SINOPEC, CNPC, China Mobile, Volkswagen Group (China), Johnson & Johnson, adidas and Air China.
