Bank of China Launched the First Olympic Passbook-“Olympic Growth Account”

China first Olympic deposit book--“Olympic Growth Account”featuring the “lovely friendlies,” the official mascots of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, has been unveiled by Bank of China(BOC) in Beijing. BOC, partner of the games, issued the Olympic passbook right before Children’s Day, aimed at providing children and adolescents under 18 with a unique, collectible deposit book, which can not only provide ordinary bankbook functions, but also provide various kind of flexible savings choices.

“This is the first Olympic financing product aiming at youth under 18 in the domestic financial system. ” a head of BOC Personal Banking Department said. The  “Olympic Growth Account” provides a variety of flexible savings portfolio in expectation of training the youth to be aware of personal financing and assisting the whole family to achieve faster capital accumulations, higher account profits and stronger financing capacity. And BOC will introduce a variety of financing knowledge for the youth. Before 2008 Beijing Olympics, the lucky clients of the “Olympic Growth Account” will obtain tickets to Beijing 2008 Olympic Games through the lottery.

A researcher from some domestic youth educational institution said, “Adolescence is a crucial period for the growth of physical and mental and building of personal philosophy and world view. Parents and the society should direct the youth setting up correct financing idea and independent ability. If the youth can obtain the chance taking part in the Olympic Games by the “Olympic Growth Account” , it will do good effect on their financing habits.

“This generation of young people are lucky, they have the opportunity to witness the first Olympic event held in China. Bank of China hopes to provide a platform helping young people understand the Olympic spirit, and guiding them to a more healthy growing way." Xuchen, general manager of BOC Olympic Affairs Department, said in an interview. He also disclosed that “Olympic Growth Account” is just the beginning during Olympic product marketing strategy , and Bank of China will constantly innovate more Olympic financial products based on its own advantages as well as the clients’ diversified characteristics and needs.

According to introduction from a staff in one outlet of BOC, the Olympic passbook with lovely friendlies printed gained a warm welcome from the youth. And at present, BOC outlets have been already handling plenty of consultations and applications about the Olympic deposit book.
