In the Fortune Global 500 2011 published by Fortune magazine of the US on July 7, Bank of China ranked No.132, up by 11 from 2010. This is the 23rd consecutive year for Bank of China to be listed in the ranking, the only one among Chinese enterprises.
The Fortune Global 500 is a ranking measured by revenue. This year, the ranking's minimum revenue was USD 19.5 billion, an increase of USD 2.4 billion from 2010. A total of 69 Chinese enterprises were listed in the ranking in 2011, a historical high compared with 54 in 2010.
Founded in 1930, Fortune magazine published its first Fortune Global 500 in 1954; and these days, the ranking has become the most famous and authoritative index to measure the world's largest corporations.
