Bank of China ranked the 93th in the list of Fortune Global 500 enterprises in 2012, recently announced by American Fortune Magazine, increasing by 39 ranks compared with 2011. Bank of China is the only one among Chinese enterprises elected in Fortune Global 500 for 24 consecutive years.
The Fortune Global 500 list is measured by gross revenue and the finalist threshold of this year is increased by USD 2.5 billion compared with that of last year, up to USD 22 billion. The total revenue of Fortune Global 500 is up to USD 29.5 trillion this year, up by 13 percent compared with that of last year. China boasts 79 enterprises on the list this year, exceeding Japan for the first time, and becoming the second country with the most companies on the list only after America.
Fortune Magazine was established in 1930. Since its launch of the ranking list Fortune Global 500 in 1954, it has become the most famous and authoritative list weighing the global largest corporations.
