On May 30, BOC and UnionPay International issued the first RMB-AUD debit card in Sydney, Australia.
The BOC UnionPay dual-currency debit card secures the direct settlement between RMB and Australian dollars. It is an innovative bank card designed for those who often travel between Australia and China. The card has both an RMB and AUD account and support settlements between two currencies, thus providing a flexible, express and efficient payment service for travelers' of business, tour, education and residence. Card holders can not only use the card on EFTPOS in Australia, but also have access to such services including ATM cash withdrawal, balance inquiry and pay by card at UnionPay merchants on UnionPay global network of 141 countries and regions. In these services, the currency exchange fee is exempted to help card holders avoid exchange rate risk and reduce cost.
