On November 12, the “2013 Sustainable Financial Global Summit” hold by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (2013 UNEP FI Global Roundtable) was opened in Beijing, and BOC gave support to this summit as a “Green Sponsor”.
Under the theme of “Financing the Future We Want – China, Emerging Markets and the World Economy”, the 2013 GRT attracted more than 400 senior delegates from over 200 international institutions in multiple sectors, including finance, environment, energy and research. To highlight the concept of “Sustainable Finance” in 2013 GRT, BOC offset the carbon emissions from this summit by means of “carbon neutralization” as a “Green Sponsor”, and made it a real zero-emission green conference.
Since 1994, the “UNEP FI Global Roundtable”, as a biennial high-level conference, has become an important platform where international financial institutions, government departments, and stakeholders can discuss issues over finance and sustainable development.
