Bank of China Backs Ancient Egyptian Exhibition in Hong Kong

Bank of China (Hong Kong) is a significant supporter of the exhibition Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums, currently on display at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The exhibition is organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.

This is the largest, most comprehensive, and longest exhibit of ancient Egyptian artifacts in Hong Kong to date, running until Aug 31, 2026, in honor of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.

The exhibition features 250 treasures from nearly 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian civilization. It is organized into four sections: "The Land of Pharaohs", "The World of Tutankhamun", "The Secrets of Saqqara", and "Ancient Egypt and the World" — it explores ancient Egyptian kingship, art, and craftsmanship.

Highlights include nearly 40 newly discovered artifacts from Saqqara and an exploration of ancient Egypt's interactions with global civilizations. It also shows the achievements of archaeological cooperation between China and Egypt.

The exhibit includes over 60 statues of pharaohs and deities, eight animal mummies, seven sets of mummy coffins, and jewelry and daily-use objects. Among them is the only colossal stone statue of Tutankhamun in Egypt, with a rarity comparable to collections in the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Through this exhibition, Bank of China supports the idea of dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations and provides financial support for cultural and artistic exchanges between China and international partners.
