BOC Backs China Pavilion at 61st Venice Biennale

The China pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (Venice Biennale) in Venice, Italy, supported by Bank of China as its strategic partner, is drawing crowds with a "Dream Stream" presentation in the form of light and shadow, sound, brush and ink, and digital technology. The exhibition runs until November 22, 2026, and aims to showcase the unique charm of Chinese culture to the world.

The exhibition at the China pavilion is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, co-organized by China International Culture Association, and curated by Art Museum of China Academy of Art.

Themed on "Dream Stream", the pavilion this year is trying to deliver a sense of crossing time and space. The theme was named after Dream Stream Essays, a masterpiece written by Shen Kuo in the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

The exhibition brings together 10 works — from calligraphy and video to digital art, multimedia installations and sculptures — to present Chinese tradition in new forms.

As one of the most globalized State-owned commercial banks, BOC opened its Milan branch in 1998 — the first and biggest Chinese-funded bank to establish a presence in Italy. It has since witnessed, taken part in, and benefited from the deepening partnership between China and Italy.

BOC has long explored new ways of channeling its financial strengths into cultural development, fostering dialogue across civilizations and deepening China-Italy ties in culture and commerce. BOC will continue to draw on its global expertise and comprehensive services to support cultural and artistic exchanges and advance mutual understanding between residents in China and other countries.
