BOC Provides Swift Support for Emergency Disaster Relief

As a result, in the face of natural disasters it promptly assumes responsibility by actively engaging in emergency rescue efforts, supporting post-disaster relief and reconstruction and ensuring the continuous provision of financial services. 

BOC is fully committed to protecting the safety of people's lives and their property.

In a swift response to the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, Bank of China extended crucial financial support to the Chinese rescue team engaged in cross-border relief operations.

The Chinese government promptly responded to Myanmar's request for international assistance by dispatching a well-equipped rescue team to join the global relief efforts.

On the morning of March 29, following an urgent request from the Ministry of Emergency Management, BOC activated its emergency response mechanism and established a fast-track process to expedite aid. With just 120 minutes of receiving the request, the bank delivered the full amount of foreign currency cash to the rescue team at the capital's airport.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese rescue team, consisting of 82 members, arrived at Yangon International Airport on the afternoon of March 29 local time. Equipped with essential tools and supplies, the team is fully committed to supporting Myanmar in its emergency rescue and relief operations.

BOC has pledged to continue its financial support for earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction, ensuring that its response embodies speed, strength, and compassion.
