Bank of China Provides Emergency Financial Assurance for Chinese Rescue Team to Quake-hit Myanmar

Following Myanmar’s 7.9-magnitude earthquake on March 28, China swiftly dispatched a rescue team at the request of the Myanmar government.

Bank of China responded with critical emergency financial support, completing a financial assurance mission in a remarkable two hours.

Acted upon the Ministry of Emergency Management's urgent request to deliver foreign currency cash to the rescue team at the airport, BOC rapidly established a “green channel” and implemented a “guarantee first, settlement later” model on the morning of March 29.

This enabled the swift procurement and delivery of the necessary foreign currency cash to the rescue team poised for deployment at the airport, effectively completing this critical emergency assignment.

The Ministry of Emergency Management deployed 82 rescue team members with equipment and supplies to assist Myanmar in rescue operations. BOC will maintain its green channel and enhance service accessibility to continue supporting the team's financial needs throughout this humanitarian mission.

In the face of natural disasters, BOC's commitment remains steadfast. The bank continues to provide swift, substantial, and compassionate financial support for both disaster relief and subsequent reconstruction efforts, guided by its principles of swift response, mission-critical professionalism, and a deeply people-centric approach.
