'Happy Chinese New Year' Celebrations Around the World

In recent years, "Happy Chinese New Year" celebrations have become an important way for people around the world to share and experience the charm of Spring Festival. Bank of China (BOC), a supporter of the events, helps promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

In Australia

The Chinese Garden of Friendship in Sydney was filled with festivities for Chinese New Year. The event featured Beijing-style performances, such as lion dances and Peking Opera, as well as cultural heritage activities like kite making and sugar figure blowing. The event further enhanced the international influence of the "Happy Chinese New Year" brand and promoted cultural exchanges between China and Australia.

In South Korea

The 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" and "Ni Hao! China" winter tourism promotion was held in Seoul. BOC's Seoul branch supported exchanges between China and South Korea by promoting easy payment methods during travel in China. The venue was decorated with Chinese New Year elements, such as spring couplets, colorful lanterns, and horse-themed decorations.

In Laos

The 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" temple fair was launched in Vientiane to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. The event featured activities like cultural heritage performances, calligraphy experiences, and photos with green-screen technology. Representatives from BOC's Vientiane branch joined guests from various sectors to celebrate Chinese New Year and the enduring friendship between China and Laos.

In the United States

BOC supported the 2026 "Happy Chinese New Year" concert at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. Eastern and Western musicians collaborated on the "Spring Festival Overture", blending the erhu and pipa with orchestral music. Chinese artists Yu Hongmei and Zhang Hongyan also gave solo performances on the erhu and pipa, respectively.

In Luxembourg

"Happy Chinese New Year" events themed around the charm of Jiangsu were held. BOC set up a booth highlighting services to facilitate inbound tourism and smart tourism experiences. BOC employees served as bilingual hosts. Performances of Kunqu Opera, Xiju Opera, and the folk music piece A Moonlit Night on the Spring River showcased Jiangsu's cultural charm and modern vitality.

In Hungary

In Budapest, a series of "Happy Chinese New Year" events celebrated the cultural fusion between China and Hungary. A Fujian art troupe presented performances themed around the Silk Road, and Chinese and Hungarian dancers also performed together, highlighting cultural exchange and integration. At the Chinese New Year Festival 2026 (Kínai Újeévi Fesztivál 2026), attendees enjoyed Sichuan Opera face-changing performances and Sichuan cuisine, offering an authentic taste of Chinese New Year traditions.

In Morocco

At the Theatre Mohammed V in Rabat, artists from China's Gansu province presented Spring Festival cultural performances highlighting the rich heritage of the Silk Road. The program featured the classic dance Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva, the acrobatics show Rhythm of the Jars, and a rendition of the Moroccan folk song The Messenger of Love (Rasool-Al Hubb) performed with Chinese folk instruments. Representatives from BOC's office in Morocco joined local friends from various sectors to celebrate the Year of the Horse together.
