June 27, 2026 marks the 10th United Nations Micro-, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises Day. Bank of China has expanded financial services across technology innovation, employment, and rural revitalization in recent years, providing targeted credit products and efficient financial services to solve problems and support the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, BOC's outstanding inclusive loans to small and micro enterprises totaled nearly RMB 3 trillion, serving over 1.95 million business entities.

Supporting technology-driven growth
BOC continues to improve its financial service system for specialized and sophisticated enterprises by developing tailored products that help small businesses strengthen innovation and foster new quality productive forces.
In Zhejiang province, BOC extended a total of RMB 45 million in unsecured loans through its loan product to five small and micro enterprises through its "New Quality Loan" product. Credit approval was primarily based on these companies' technological capabilities and research and development strength, injecting strong momentum into fostering new quality productive forces.
As one of the specialized and sophisticated enterprises located in the G60 Science and Innovation Corridor, an automotive electronics enterprise in Shanghai needed additional working capital. BOC provided financing through its G60-specific loan product and gave the company access to a one-stop digital platform, offering integrated corporate financial services, including corporate transfers, payroll, and tax and invoice management to boost innovation.
In Fujian province, BOC increased credit support as its client — a machinery company — expanded production capacity by leveraging BOC's inclusive financial services system, helping the company grow from an innovation-driven SME into a national-level specialized "little giant" enterprise.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, BOC's outstanding credit balance for national and provincial specialized and sophisticated enterprises exceeded RMB 870 billion, with a credit coverage rate of 34.04%.
Supporting employment
For five consecutive years, BOC has carried out its specialized "Inclusive Loan for Employment Promotion" campaign to support employment and small businesses through targeted financing while actively implementing government interest subsidy policies for loans to service-sector businesses, helping deliver financial support to businesses at the grassroots level.
In Gansu province, BOC has developed inclusive financial products tailored to local development strategies. Its employment loan supports labor-intensive MSMEs with strong capacity to absorb employment through preferential interest rates, sufficient credit lines, and streamlined approval procedures, while the entrepreneurship loan provides financing for returning entrepreneurs, self-employed individuals, and start-up businesses. These efforts consist of a unique financial support system for both employment stabilization and entrepreneurship, helping entities with their startup challenges and activating their vitality.
A self-employed wedding services business in Ningbo qualified for the government's loan interest subsidy program. After the subsidy funds were disbursed by the local fiscal authority, BOC promptly credited the interest subsidy in the form of 'pay after receiving' to the customer's loan repayment account, helping ease its financing costs and operating pressure.
By the end of the first quarter of 2026, BOC has extended more than RMB 1.4 trillion in employment stabilization and expansion loans to over 170,000 enterprises. Since the beginning of 2026, it has also provided more than RMB 350 billion in loans across 11 consumer service sectors, benefiting over 300,000 businesses.
Supporting rural industries
BOC has continued to strengthen its financial services for agriculture and rural industries, providing support across the agricultural value chain.
In Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, BOC has introduced inclusive financial services for smart agriculture enterprises by leveraging its advantages in relevant scenarios, providing efficient financing support for agricultural drone companies through dedicated service mechanisms and streamlined approval processes.
In Anhui province, BOC supported the smart upgrading of production lines at a shredded squash processing enterprise in Sixian county. By cross-checking insurance policy data against purchase orders from leading enterprises, BOC extended unsecured loans to upstream growers, expanding integrated financial services across the entire industrial chain.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, BOC's outstanding agriculture-related loans exceeded RMB 3 trillion, up 9.73% from the beginning of the year.
BOC will continue to enrich its product offerings, strengthen technology-enabled financial services, and improve service quality to provide more targeted and effective financial support for MSMEs, contributing to the growth of business entities.
