Bank of China Successfully Issues RMB 20 Billion of Green Financial Bonds

Bank of China has successfully issued RMB 20 billion of three-year floating-rate green financial bonds, carrying an initial coupon rate of 1.57%. The issuance drew enthusiastic subscriptions from 44 institutions, including large State-owned banks, joint-stock banks, city and rural commercial banks, securities firms, fund managers and trust companies. The issuance was upsized by RMB 15 billion, underscoring BOC's strong market recognition and brand appeal.

A pioneer in green finance, BOC has issued a cumulative RMB 30 billion of floating-rate green bonds over the past two years, ranking first among domestic commercial banks by issuance volume. The proceeds will be used in full to fund green industry projects eligible under the "catalogue of green finance-supported projects (2025 edition)," putting the green finance agenda into practice and precisely supporting the green and low-carbon transition of the economy and society.

In recent years, BOC has drawn on its global reach and integrated service strengths to continuously improve a product suite spanning lending, bonds, consumption, and comprehensive services in response to green development needs, enhancing its "BOC Green+" global brand.

Focusing on key sectors such as energy conservation and carbon reduction, resource recycling, and green upgrading of infrastructure, BOC channels credit resources toward green fields, providing solid funding support for a range of landmark international green projects, including the largest single-site photovoltaic power plant in the Middle East and the world's largest pumped storage power station, and contributing to global sustainable development.

As a lead underwriter, BOC helps companies in key sectors such as clean energy and green transport broaden their domestic and overseas financing channels. As of end-June 2026, BOC had underwritten approximately RMB 79.5 billion in onshore green bond issuances and held a green bond investment portfolio of more than RMB 100 billion, ranking among the leaders of Chinese peer banks in both underwriting and investment.

Bank of China will continue to honor its responsibilities as a major State-owned bank, driven by financial product innovation and supported by professional services, to steadily increase the supply of green finance and inject strong green momentum into high-quality economic and social development.
